I think he meant it as a compliment. But Bill Clinton's praise for his wife might send a shiver down the spine of people who like to live their own lives, thank you very much. His remarks reinforce the image of Hillary as a big-government busybody, an It Takes a Villager, a smarty-pantssuit who wants to lean over your shoulder and kibitz on every decision you make.
Bill made his comments while campaigning recently for Hillary in West Virginia. If he had made the remark once, it might be written off as a slip of the tongue. But as per this article by Tom Searls in the Charleston Gazette, he did so twice. Here it is:
"This woman has spent a lifetime changing people's lives," the former president said.
And then:
"She's a genius at making changes in other people's lives," Clinton said.
Can't we just finish our waffles?

Would that this classic quote applied only to Hillary...
May 12, 2008 - 07:12 ET by sarcasmo"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." -- C.S. Lewis
Rather than fitting all too well on all 3 "choices."

You gotta love Bill. After he spent months running his mouth and drilling holes in her campaign, now he's out there bailing furiously, "trying" to keep it afloat. He can do that now, because he knows it's too late.
Amen
May 12, 2008 - 09:05 ET by docbmotherbelt. No one wanted the changes in their lives and we do not either but I am not sure she got that close to the other people..
new story out of Tn , that she killed a heatlhcare bill in the 97/98 that would have passed and ..We could be celebrating 10yrs of Gov't healthcare..story over at Daily Kos!!!!
docb, please do us NBers a huge favor....
May 14, 2008 - 11:34 ET by R D Helm...go back to Kosland and stay there.
Then you can close your eyes and fantasize with all of your other mentally-challenged, government-schooled compadres about your wildest wet dream:
10 years of Americans going to other countries for their basic health-care needs.
Of course, the destruction of our current health-care system is really only a secondary concern to you, isn't it?
After all, you spineless Marxist puke, it is the destruction of free-enterprise that you are really after.

May 12, 2008 - 09:11 ET by mattmNow it's payback time, let's change the Clintons from political stars into the second rate has-beens they always should have been, or better still, into the jail birds they deserve to be.

May 12, 2008 - 10:05 ET by VonuSeems everyone wants to change the world. Few are fearless enough to change themselves. In fact, the only way to truely change the world is to change yourself. When YOU change the world can't help but be changed. Wish more people could grasp this.

Why not change Bill's character first?
May 12, 2008 - 09:59 ET by Mike SJust like with Obama, it is so easy to make the "why don't you start a little closer to home before you take on the whole country" argument.
Bill, do you think there is anything about your character as her husband that she would want to change?

May 12, 2008 - 10:14 ET by okiehawk44Unbeknownst to the MSM, 50% of Americans vote for Republicans and are 100% against Hillary and 50% of Americans vote for Democrats and are now 50% against Hillary -- isn't this about 75% of all American voters being anti-Hillary?
The Clintons are not loved and respected by Americans no matter what they tell us and no matter what the MSM told us for years.
She's changed my life!
May 12, 2008 - 11:15 ET by SyriusFrom thinking she might be the inevitable choice to the wrong choice!!!
She's changed most of the Democrats from believing in her into believing in Obama!
As for a Big Government Busybody...who wants to lean over your shoulder and kibitz on every decision you make? Dubya still has her beat by a mile!
Godspeed, John McCain, Godspeed!

Our long national nightmare is almost over
May 12, 2008 - 13:17 ET by Captain RepusFor the past 15+ years my greatest fear has been that I would not live to see the end of our Clinton national nightmare, but, with a little luck, I just might make it.
These hillbilly hucksters and immoral pigmies have brought disgrace to my country in a way that makes me shudder. Now the end is in sight. Unfortunately the cost of getting rid of them is to destroy our nation by either making the final move to a totally socialistic society (Obama) or turning our nation into a sub-division of Mexico (John Keating5 McCain).
At least I am old enough to retain memories of what a great country this was from 1776 to 1992, although my memory of the 1776 decade is a little fuzzy.
so if you want to take that perspective

May 12, 2008 - 14:20 ET by conantWell over a half century ago I entered the fifth grade which was taught by my first male teacher. It was quite a different perspective for kids whose adult world consisted almost excusively of women. (In those days mothers were home and Dads showed up for dinner and then tucked you into bed). I do not remember the context but something bad had happened and we were all upset. Some were crying. Mr. Morrison(I even remember his name) had us all sit on the floor aound him and he sat down with us something he NEVER did. I remember him telling us that while we still needed to be polite and respectful to all grownups that there were some who would hurt us so we had to be careful. He told us that the ones who we really had to get away from were the ones who hurt us but said that they were doing it for our own good. Then he told us as we grew up, that before we hurt somebody thinking it would be good for them, to think very hard about it first because we could be wrong and no matter how good our intentions had been the person would stay hurt whether we were right or wrong. He suggested that the better way was to be ready and willing to help but wait to be asked.
she made changes

"Changing other people's lives"
May 13, 2008 - 11:06 ET by iveseenitallHow antihtetical to the individualism America was founded upon. It's a communist idea. It's what we successfully fought for decades in the "cold war". Now we want to bring it back? Socialism and communism really never went away; they were working under the radar. Now they're rearing their ugly heads again in the persons of Barry and Hillary. Fight them, folks.
