MSNBC's Tamron Hall: I've Participated in Events for NOW

Last week, as noted here, Tamron Hall mentioned that "Us Weekly" aside, her main news source is the New York Times. Two days earlier, Hall had defended CNN's "God's Warriors" by suggesting that Christian and Jewish groups could be the next to turn violent. Today comes further evidence of Hall's liberal leanings, as the MSNBCer spoke openly of her participation in events on behalf of the National Organization for Women.

The disclosure came on today's "Morning Joe" at 6:09 A.M. EDT. Host Joe Scarborough, discussing the Michael Vick case, suggested that whereas there has been tremendous media focus on the dogfighting charges, allegations that pro athletes abuse women don't get as much attention.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: The next time an NFL player beats the hell out of a woman, or allegedly rapes a woman, or an NBA player allegedly rapes a woman, or beats the hell out of a woman, I want to see all those people who were out there defending these dogs doing the same thing for these women, who were abused.

That's when Hall made her statement.

TAMRON HALL: I think people agree with you, and I've heard that time and time again. It's not to diminish what Michael Vick has done. He stood up in front of the cameras, with his mother, embarrassed and humiliated, and took responsibility. But I am curious. As a woman, as a person who has participated in events for the National Organization for Women, as a woman who has participated in charity events for the education of abuse victims, I want to see what happens the next time a guy socks his girlfriend.

Earlier, Tamron had shared the sad and shocking fact that her own sister had been murdered, the sister's boyfriend having been charged with the crime. It is understandable and admirable that Hall would want to work on issues of domestic abuse. That she chose NOW as the outlet for her good works is, nevertheless, indicative of her political orientation.

Well, at least she's out

Well, at least she's out there, not claiming to be "unbiased" from what she has said. There's no problem with bias in this context; after all, "Morning Joe" is not a news program, it's a commentary, like Hannity & Colmes or "The O'Reilly Factor." It's when "journalists" who are supposed to be objective let there biases come through in their reporting, that the problems start. I don't know if she does news, but if she does, it would be interesting to see if she leaves her bias out of it.

I'd agree, except that Hall

I'd agree, except that Hall is there essentially in the role of newsreader, not pundit.

I didn't know that....I

I didn't know that....I don't watch the show. She's the newsreader and Joe the pundit? But being a newsreader on a morning show is a bit different from being, say, Katie Couric or Bob Schieffer, don't you think?

On "Fox & Friends" and other morning shows, they read news too, and discuss it, and their personal views come through. They don't claim to be unbiased either. I just think it's a different context, with less stringent standards.

Agreed

I have much more respect for her, and any other journalist who acknowledges that she has a point of view. That's the first step to seeing that others also have a point of view, and that's where respect begins. Then, if you admit your own point of view and display respect for others, that's when the free market of information can work at its fullest.

The process all stops, however, when reporters (a) deny they have a bias; (b) disrespect others' point of view; (c) try to drag down others through insults and personal innuendo. (See Olbermann, Keith -- "Worst Person in the World")

Mark--do you really have to

Mark--do you really have to adopt politically correct language in your posts?  The correct word is 'newsman' not 'newsperson'.  NB is the last place I expect folks to be poltically correct.  Sheesh!

Mark had it right...she is a

Mark had it right...she is a "newsreader". She just reads the sheet she is given ....unless she refuses and tears it up like Mika Brzezhinski (sp?)

Hey Joe -- you ignorant putz.

What a zero-sum moron.

You mean the way all those Feminist groups are constantly "out there" protesting the Islamists who...

subjugate women, rape women, mutilate the genitals of girls, stone women to death,  punish womne who claim to have been raped, glory in the evily named "honor killings"...

All because that's the command from their religious texts and their so-called prophet?

Funny, we NEVER see the feminazis out in the street do we?

What the eff is wrong with apparent dimwits like Scarborough. Has he had a intelligence bypass or something. Hey Joe -- go stick your ersatz outrage.

Conservatives protest dog cruelty -- and we also protest RAPE.

In fact, many of us would happily see the death penalty for violent serial rapists.  HOW ABOUT YOU??

Where have you been, Jack???? You don't understand: that's part of their "religion and culture" so we are not allowed to object. You know, no one culture is superior to another.

MB -- sorry, got a little

MB -- sorry, got a little carried away there.

You are right, who are we to object to someone else's "kulture?" No matter how debased and low and backwards.

Wouldn't want to give anyone the idea that Western culture from the Greeks onwards is in any way superior to say -- the Incas and Australian aborigines.

We are to understand..these

We are to understand..these people.

I saw a stoning on vidio..OMG. The brutality is beyond
words.

What does Tamron Hall think

What does Tamron Hall think about the allegation of Juanita Broddrick that Boy Clinton raped her?  What does Tamron Hall think of the allegations of other women (e.g., Kathleen Willey, Paula Jones, etc.) that Boy Clinton groped them or exposed himself to them?  My bet is that Tamron Hall doesn't give a damn about those events because Boy Clinton supported Tamron Hall's leftist agenda.

The MSNBC newsperson has

The MSNBC newsperson has spoken openly of her participation in events on behalf of the National Organization for Women.

Well, in her (possible) defense, her activities could have taken place before she started working for MSNBC.

Though I doubt it.

(this last sentence is called a "statement against interest")

The defense rests.

Tamron the Fluffer

Fortunately, my cable system does not have MSNBC so I never watched Tamron Hall.

But I did a quick google search on Tamron, I found out she was a fluff reporter on Fox News in Chicago. She covered stories such as 'Take your pet to work day' and other fillers.

Seems to me she may try to build her resume by stretching the truth just a bit. (Participating in N.O.W. events may mean she interviewed the caterer at a feminist meeting.)

So, why should I care what Tamron Hall thinks? Hmmm?

New Trend ?

I'm gonna be the FIRST to spot a NEW TREND....We have this NOW person on MSM, and then we have the Coal Mine Expert front and center on MSM who writes books slamming the Coal industry....I think I'm seeing a Trend in the Main Stream Media.....

They only have experts that support their Bias, their Agenda, and they only report one side......and it looks very liberal.

we all know they don't hire/have conservative Journalists,

and they "Cheer" in the News rooms when Rove or Gonzales resigns.....

I think I've spotted a Trend....
