Good Morning America Host Touts Pro-Life Argument for Adoption

May 23rd, 2015 2:05 PM

On Sunday’s Good Morning America, following a story about two long-lost sisters meeting each other for the first time while attending Columbia University, co-host Paula Faris wound up summarizing pro-life beliefs: “I love that the mom – she’s met one of the daughters – but she said, ‘I'm glad that I chose to give them a chance at life,’ too. Because she was a teen mom.”

In the prior report, correspondent Linzie Janis explained: “The two women were adopted as babies by different families. [Katy] Olson growing up in Florida and Iowa, [Lizzie] Velverde in New Jersey. The pair now catching up on so much lost time.”

Faris hailed it as “a great, heartwarming story.” Fellow co-host Dan Harris added: “Incredible. Great story.”

By contrast, in 2014, GMA weekday co-host Robin Roberts conducted a lengthy softball interview with left-wing Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis, proclaiming: “She made national headlines, you know, last year by speaking for 13 consecutive hours in those pink running shoes to stop a vote restricting abortion. Now she’s running for governor of Texas.”

Here are excerpts of the May 17 segment:

FARIS: I love that. I love that the mom – she’s met one of the daughters – but she said, “I'm glad that I chose to give them a chance at life,” too. Because she was a teen mom. She says, “Look, they’ve become two beautiful women.” But such a great, heartwarming story. And the chances of that happening.

HARRIS: Monday’s gonna be a big day, graduation and meeting the mom. Incredible. Great story.
