At the risk of giving third-rate left-wing comedian Kathy Griffin more than her due of publicity, I thought I'd pass along something I saw over at Brutally Honest. The one-time 'The View' co-host prospect making light of award winners who thank Jesus or thank God for their accomplishment at the podium:
Here's an excerpt from a September 9 blog entry titled "Kathy Griffin speaks to Jesus" (emphasis mine):
Well... sort of:
... the Bravo network's "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List," won the prize for best reality program, prompting one of the more colorful speeches of the night from the star and executive producer.
"A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this. He had nothing to do with this," Griffin said. "Suck it, Jesus. This award is my God now."
Nice eh?
I'd like to see Ms. Griffin take on the Muslims with her shock attempts to offend and ask Muhammad to suck it. Takes a little more chutzpah to do that I'm thinking, chutzpah I'd say she possesses not.
Mocking religious faith is far from Griffin's only foray into controversial statements (a quick search for Griffin on NewsBusters bears that out). Griffin delighted the audience of a June taping of 'The View' with her thoughts on how Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is essentially a sell-out to women and blacks by serving as a high official in a Republican administration. As you can see below, it was a bit much for host Barbara Walters:
GRIFFIN: But when people say I want a woman – ‘maybe Condi Rice.’ That’s not a pro-woman woman. Let me tell you something. Condi Rice is not a woman's woman.
HASSELBECK: Why? Why?
GRIFFIN: Because she follows everything white men say. She does what ever the white man does. .
HASSELBECK: What's wrong with the white man, a black man?
GRIFFIN: Let me tell you something. Any African American woman who is a Republican does not understand that she's not a part of their agenda. Wake up!
HASSELBECK: Are you kidding me?
GRIFFIN: But she’s smart. She’s very smart.
HASSELBECK: I think there is a reverse sexism –
BEHAR: One at a time.
HASSEBLECK: There is reverse racism and reverse sexism going on right now, and it is going on against the white man. Apparently, the white man’s going down, because everybody’s against –
GRIFFIN: Poor white man.
BEHAR: I feel bad for them. They just run the world.
HASSELBECK: I'm saying be fair about it. If women were to take power and then they said those white women or black women have too much power --
GRIFFIN: If they say that, I'll rescind all of that.
WALTERS [to Griffin]: You know I love you a lot, but what you just said is so bigoted.
GRIFFIN: Why?
WALTERS: She shouldn't be republican because she's black and not a good example for women because she’s black – . .
GRIFFIN: I didn't say that. I don't think that's who the Republicans care for in their agenda.
WALTERS: – Because her boss is a white man.
HASSELBECK: What agenda?
GRIFFIN: I think the Republican agenda doesn't look out for women and minorities. I’m sorry. That’s what I think.

I am a black woman. A Conservative black woman who finds it both humorous and disgusting that a white person can tell me that I am a sell-out to my race because I don't support the Democrats or liberals. I don't even take that crap from other black people!
And her comments about Jesus (my Lord and Savior) puts her lower than scum. One day she will pay for her words.

September 11, 2007 - 12:10 ET by LilyPearlAmen, Ken Shepherd. She needs prayer above all. I think of Paul (then Saul) on his road to Damascus to kill Christians when Jesus radically intervened in his life and changed him to the point that he was willing to sacrifice his own life for the gospel. I have a short prayer list of celebrites I pray for:
Alec Baldwin --because I am a huge admirer of his brother Stephen, who is a born again Christian. I am sure he is daily bringing him before God in prayer.
Bill Maher---because he is so angry. I don't know why my heart is touched for him, but I truly want him to know the grace and mercy of Jesus.
I need to add Kathy Griffin to that list. I always find it amazing that it is Christianity that is insulted and really no other religions. I think that it is because deep down people know it is the truth (See Romans 1)

Indeed it is, Helen when it involves liberals. They generally just spew hate speech and insults at conservatives. They think it's funny, so they think that that constitutes actual comedy. That's why I keep saying there really is no such thing as "liberal comedy." They think hate is comedy because it comes out of the mouth of someone who calls himself/herself a "comic." Kathy Griffin is just raising the pot with this crap.

Unbelieveable
September 11, 2007 - 11:22 ET by cvgbuckeyeYou know, my church has nearly 3,000 people in attendance every weekend. Our congregation is made up of probably every kind of person that God ever created. And you know what, that fact rarely crosses anyone's mind. We are all just Christians, God's imperfect children, born imperfectly, into a fallen world, filled with sin and sinners, of which I am the worst.
Our Church is a bastion of refuge. There are no clicks, racial divisions or financial separations. The Church Leadership is as diverse as the congregation. I want to believe that my church is not unique and that most of God's Holy Church is the same way, regardless of denominationalism.
We try very hard to become more like Jesus Christ every day and we fail every day; but we keep on trying and sometimes we can see progress in others and even ourselves. This life is a dress rehearsal for eternity.
Jesus Christ was the most perfect, kind and loving being that ever walked the face of the earth and the author of all life and all things. And this ill-informed lady, speaks of our precious Lord, Jesus Christ in this way.
I should not feel this way but I am a flawed person. I want to be standing off to the side at the judgement. I want to here her explanation to Our Lord, as to what she meant by that comment.
No class at all
September 11, 2007 - 11:29 ET by KC MulvilleIf you knew that someone wasn't going to hit you back, would you take a cheap shot? You might, but then everyone around you would know that you had no character, and no class. In short, that sort of cheap shot would reveal you to be a coward. But that depends on who surrounds you. If you surround yourself with fellow cowards, who also have neither class nor character, they may think you're innovative and trendy.
I pay no attention to Griffin's "please world, notice me" neurosis. However, the fact that she felt comfortable saying that in front of that crowd ... says everything about the crowd.

September 11, 2007 - 11:50 ET by Tom in NCThis so-called comedian has pretty much sealed her fate with a comment like that and I pity her when she stands in Judgement before the same Jesus that she so freely ridiculed and mocked, on that day I do not believe she will be so bold but instead will be begging for forgiveness and will be shaking with terror at the very thought of spending eternity in Hell, but to no avail, her pleas will be too late and will be ignored by the Lord. The only chance she has is now to ask for forgiveness and invite the Lord into her heart. I have to put aside my anger towards her and instead pray for her, I can only guess that satan has a powerful grasp on the woman and unless she repents, one day she get to know satan very intimately.
