If you are a Clinton and a magazine has a negative story on you…then just bribe or threaten them.
Early this summer, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign for president learned that the men’s magazine GQ was working on a story the campaign was sure to hate: an account of infighting in Hillaryland.
So Clinton’s aides pulled a page from the book of Hollywood publicists and offered GQ a stark choice: Kill the piece, or lose access to planned celebrity coverboy Bill Clinton.Despite internal protests, GQ editor Jim Nelson met the Clinton campaign’s demands, which had been delivered by Bill Clinton’s spokesman, Jay Carson, several sources familiar with the conversations said. Ed Morrisey has the ultimate question:
If Hillary the candidate manages to push the media around this easily to silence criticism, imagine what Hillary the President would do to those who report negative aspects of her performance.
Does Hillary believe in a free press? It doesn’t appear so, but she believes in one she can buy off cheaply.
Indeed.

September 24, 2007 - 18:55 ET by nkviking75While Dan Rather is prattling that CBS caved to pressure from the Bush Administration on the phony National Guard story, a real example of the MSM folding up under pressure is on display before us. How many average Americans will ever know about it?
One day, we could have Hillary Clinton, the Oregami President.
When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.

September 24, 2007 - 19:20 ET by SouthernRootsYes, but how many news shows will run the story every night and how many Congress critters will collide racing for microphones to denounce the behavior?

September 24, 2007 - 20:21 ET by SportPoliticsI'm not sure why, but it just seems inevitable. The demolibs already had ABC cut, clip, and rewrite the documentary that exposed slick sillies failure, and they did that in full public view with a threatening signed letter from Congress to ABC telling them their broadcast license was on the line unless they complied. So they complied.
They killed Frank Gaffney's documentary exposing radical Islam movie at PBS after using our tax dollars to partially fund it, pure political censorship, on the "public's channel". Hollywood makes liberal propaganda movies all year round, but that's all good, the commielibdems need massive amounts of assistance to maintain their barely 50% half.
John Kerry had his book Winter Soldier censored and removed, and refused reprinting. He has his military records censored and redacted to this day.
They obviously are "messenger controllers", the MEANS OF PRODUCTION taken over in their hands.

September 24, 2007 - 19:05 ET by bigtimerNothing new here when it comes to Hillary at all.
She has been working on controlling the msm since she was Pres. the first time...
She has done a good job of it so far.
Sickening.
It is going to be very interesting to watch what happens the closer we get to election time with the press and others running on both sides of the aisle.

Bringing that up is "mean" and "partisan".
We should stick to the important issue, such as "How many more wars does George W intend to start for Oil?" of "Why do Republicans hate (insert group here)?"

Bizarre times we live in,
September 24, 2007 - 19:21 ET by Chris NormanBizarre times we live in, when politicians, like the Clintons, can control the press and be loved and admired for their skills at doing so but the White House can't control any news story or organization (not even for national security) and be reviled as suppressors of speech and information. I feel like I went through the looking glass and down the rabbit hole...
We went down that rabbit
September 24, 2007 - 19:26 ET by zhombreWe went down that rabbit hole a long time ago. The realization only now has caught on.
What is so GD scary about
September 24, 2007 - 19:35 ET by fitzfongWhat is so GD scary about these crooks, the Clintons? Sure, they've left a few dead bodies and phony IRS harassment audits in their wake, but people need to stand up to these bullies and (metaphorically, at least) punch them in the mouth. Eventually, they'll fall. The conventional "wisdom" that they are so popular and so powerful is largely a myth. Slick Willy never got 50% of the vote, and he's certainly more popular than his carpy wife of convenience.
fitz... I keep waiting
September 24, 2007 - 19:43 ET by bigtimerfitz...
I keep waiting for Obama to fight back with Hillary and act like he is running against her....
Oh well may as well wait til hell freezes over.
I see nobody who will take them on.
Disgusting.
Of course I am talking about the debates here and the dem's....I almost wished Gore would get in now.
Thompson or whoever takes her on had better fight back, all they need are the facts.
People have got to be tired of the Clinton's and their illegal $$$$ for instance just for campaigns....that would be easy to use in the debates and commercials, Petraeus would be easy to use in commercials like they did Kerry with the I voted for him before I voted against him type of thing...
Marc Rich, FALN pardons...looking the other way when it came to Al Qaeda with a finger in the wind for polls on going to war, the wall Hillary put up with Jamie Gorelick ect...
Just her recent votes since she has been Senator...on and on...
It would not be hard to do...someone had better.
She's never going to face
September 24, 2007 - 19:54 ET by fitzfongShe's never going to face any real scrutiny in the primaries. Obama has been exposed as a lightweight. I think most Democrat insiders knew that, but they realized they couldn't control his foot-in-mouth disease before it was too late. He and Edwards are empty suit also rans meant to give the impression that Hillary is battle tested come the general election. Problem for them is neither Obama nor Edwards is up to it...they're DNC passengers. Look for Dodd or Biden to pick up some momentum and get second place behind Hillary. But when we get to the general, all bets are off. Eventually Hillary will have to come to terms with the fact that she's going to be running against Rudy, Fred, Mitt or someone else...not Bush. And she will be easy to run against since despite the fawning media coverage, most Americans despise the woman...not to mention her politics. She's beatable.
Hillary hates the military
September 24, 2007 - 20:07 ET by SportPoliticsJust the other day I read a firsthand witness account how hillary banned our military in their service uniforms from the White House, yet the news media in all their bias won't ever call her on her "support for the troops" concerning that.
I'm seeing what a near communist village of propaganda we have already turned into.
Don Hewitt(creator and former producer 60 minutes) watched the 2004 debate Bush vs Kerry at a university in public with McGovern, and said afterwards ~ " We should ban this campaign money, does banning it break the first amendment - probably- "
He went on, saying he knows full well it's unconstitutional but he recommends it anyway. Then he recommended that the big 3 broadcast networks stop newscasting, even though their traditional right to use the airwaves required them to perform that public service, and that they will buy a cable station, and do 24 hour news, citing that he was fully aware CBS made a bid to acquire CNN for that purpose.
Yes, go ahead and break the first amendment, it's ok, said bigshot 60 minutes creator.... in PUBLIC on Presdiential debate night.... in fact he said do it, and do it now, quickly.
Hillary and McCain can make it illegal law together to fix the broken reform, since john john and john john didn't "go for it" together on the '04 ticket.
But it does go to show how
September 24, 2007 - 20:12 ET by fitzfongBut it does go to show how desparate Hillary is when she and her enablers continually fight to allow illegal aliens and convicted felons to vote while trying to make it more difficult for the military to vote. She knows it's not going to be easy, so she has to take all the shortcuts she can.
