These people just won’t let up. Late Friday afternoon, MSNBC couldn’t help but knock the slow pace of the Inauguration Day parade and the Trump family as the new but inexperienced Romanov family that ruled Russia for centuries. When the First Family walked from the White House to the parade viewing stand, Matthews seized the spotlight by comparing the Trumps to the royal family who ran Russia from the 1600s until their execution at the onset of the Bolshevik Revolution.

During MSNBC's Friday coverage of the inauguration, Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow played up a report from the Huffington Post claiming that President Trump's transition team requested military hardware for the inaugural parade. Matthews wondered, "Wouldn't that look like a little shades of Pyongyang?" Maddow added, "It would be a little Red Square to do that." Minutes later, Maddow revisited the supposed request for a "Red Square-style show of military force," and lamented, "It's embarrassing — to be the only president with no public service or military experience being the one who wants to most show off the military."

MSNBC’s Hardball host Chris Matthews was a living, breathing edition of Notable Quotables on Inauguration Day, offering takes ranging from joking about Mussolini and former President George W. Bush hugging Supreme Court justices to this now-infamous quip that President Trump’s speech was “Hitlerian.”

Donald Trump had been president for mere hours and liberal groups were already advocating his impeachment.

ImpeachDonaldTrumpNow.org, a website run by Free Speech for People (FSFP) and RootsAction, went live the moment Trump took the oath of office, according to The Washington Post on Jan. 20. The website claimed that Trump violated the Constitution by refusing “to divest from his business interests.”

Friday morning through early afternoon, anti-Trump and anarchist rioters calling themselves #DisruptJ20 took to the streets of Washington D.C. to protest Trump’s inauguration. Their protest took several forms, from blocking entrances and freeways, to violence in the forms of vandalism, destruction and throwing concrete at police officers. While many in the media expressed dismay at the violence, some still justified the violence as a legitimate form of protest, including one Washington Post reporter.

Immediately after Donald Trump finished his Inaugural Address CNN’s Jake Tapper called it  “one of the most radical inaugural speeches we’ve ever heard.” His colleague John King added the speech offered “A dark view. Even a pessimistic view of where we are at the moment.”

This is in sharp contrast to how the CNN welcomed Barack Obama’s 2009 Inaugural Address. Back then the hosts were wowed by the “marvelous” and “iconic” address in the vein of Martin Luther King and Abraham Lincoln.

As if trying to poison the Potomac water for the new president on his first day in office, the New York Times Inauguration Day off-lead story tried to wrong-foot Trump the moment he takes his hand off the Bible: “With an Oath, Complications In Hotel Lease – Ethical ‘Minefield’ for the President-Elect” by Eric Lipton and Susanne Craig. The jump-page headline, “At Trump Hotel in Washington, Champagne Toasts in an Ethical ‘Minefield.’” The online teaser was blunt: “From the moment he is sworn in, Mr. Trump may be in violation of a lease with the federal government.” Less-hostile explanations were ignored.

Will New York Times columnist Paul Krugman ever recover from Donald Trump’s election?

In his Times column published on Inauguration Day 2017, Krugman lashed out desperately at President-elect Trump and his associates, calling him an “insecure, short-attention-span egomaniac” whose “administration would be blatantly corrupt.”

Minutes after President Donald Trump took the oath of office Friday afternoon, criticism poured in from CNN. Chief political analyst Gloria Border demonstrated why the outlet has the moniker “Clinton News Network” when she ridiculously whined that, “I was also surprised that in some way he did not pay some tribute to Hillary Clinton… He did not do it.” According to Borger, it would have been seen as Trump trying to unify.

During NBC’s live special Inauguration Day coverage on Friday morning, ahead of Donald Trump taking the oath of office, Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd warned that the new president “needs to earn this honeymoon” and “ missed some opportunities these last six to eight weeks...to just erase the asterisk” of his election.

On MSNBC following President Donald Trump’s Inaugural Address, hosts and pundits expressed grave concern at a speech that was “dark” and “militant” with anti-Semitic overtones with the use of the phrase “America First.” Co-host Rachel Maddow seemed emotional, speaking softly about how “it was militant and it was dark, the crime, the gangs, the drugs, this American carnage, disrepair, decay” and a speech Barack Obama couldn’t have given.

ABC journalist Terry Moran on Friday offered a sneering, dark take on Donald Trump’s inaugural address, trashing its “ugly echoes” to the rise of Nazi Germany. Regarding the President’s assertion that, “From this day forward, it’s going to be only America first,” Moran slimed, “It carries with it overtones from the 1930s when an anti-Semitic movement saying, ‘We don't want to get involved in Europe's war. It's the Jews fault in Germany!’”

Let's see how the media cover this part of Inauguration Day. The Anti-Capitalist Anti-Fascist Bloc’s DisruptJ20 Inauguration protest quickly turned violent Friday morning as protestors gathered at Logan Circle in D.C. and marched down 13th Street. Footage shot by MRC Culture and CNSNews.com during the march show protestors vandalizing local businesses, destroying a limousine, and chanting “no cops, no borders, fight law and order.”
