WATCH: GOP Lawmaker Hints at Defunding FBI’s Budget Over Censorship Lies

The Republican-led House of Representatives could soon be defunding the scandal-ridden FBI amid damning evidence of deception and colluding with Big Tech to censor Americans.

Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA) hinted during the Aug. 8 edition of Fox Business’s Mornings with Maria that Republicans are targeting the funding of President Joe Biden’s FBI through the appropriations process following the release of the “Facebook Files.” The documents, released by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), exposed the bureau’s apparent full-fledged collusion with Big Tech companies to muzzle conservatives. Jordan’s release signaled that FBI Special Agent Elvis Chan made false statements to downplay the FBI’s efforts to prime Facebook to censor Hunter Biden’s laptop before the 2020 presidential election.

The Georgia lawmaker announced imminent actions against the FBI. “I think the second week in September when we come back, we will mark that appropriation up and I look forward to cutting their budget in a significant way. And to do it in a very precise way too,” Clyde suggested after blasting what he deemed to be a “double standard by our premier law enforcement agency.”

Clyde did not mince his words in response to the newly-obtained evidence. He bluntly called the FBI’s alleged attempt to block the spreading of the politically damming information “election interference.” However, Clyde warned, “Is the FBI going to charge their Special Agent Chan with lying — with the process crime of lying, lying to Congress?”

The Republican remarks came after host Maria Bartiromo pressed Clyde about holding the FBI accountable. “Where is the accountability?” Bartiromo asked Clyde. “What are you going to do about it?”

“It's unacceptable,” Clyde said in reference to allegations that the FBI agent met with Facebook leadership a day after the New York Post unleashed its exposé on Hunter Biden. “It's tarnished on our nation for the FBI, so we need to hold them accountable through the power of the purse and I look forward to doing that.”
