I just viewed this video via Michelle Malkin of failed sportscaster Keith Olberman naming her Worst Person of the Week and pushing a quote by Geraldo Rivera in doing it:
“Michelle Malkin is the most vile, hateful commentator I’ve ever met in my life,” he says. “She actually believes that neighbors should start snitching out neighbors, and we should be deporting people.
“It’s good she’s in D.C. and I’m in New York,” Rivera sneers. “I’d spit on her if I saw her.”
Now it appears Michelle has had a small ad buy which served to call attention to the quote banned by Quigo. So, Rivera's ugliness is okay for broadcast on MSNBC in another sad attempt to further demean the target in this, but it's not okay to point a finger at Rivera with his own words?
Sadly, there's a common thread that joins Olberman and Rivera if you've observed them over time - misogyny. See this on Olberman, scroll down - and Rivera's lack of respect for women and his faux macho crap going all the way back to touting his sexual conquests in a book is well known.
That these two alleged men can get away with acting as they have because, this time, their victim happens to be a conservative is distasteful, at best. That MSNBC and Quigo are all too happy to support it through their corporate decision-making is beyond distasteful - it's just flat-out wrong.
Yet, perhaps most disturbing of all, the mainstream media will likely accept it, as Michelle is a strong voice for conservative causes. Rivera's, and now Olberman's words and actions in this case should be unacceptable, no matter what your politics happen to be. That they'll mostly go without being commented upon by the mainstream media is a telling indictment of liberalism in media. They are unfair and unbalanced when it comes to covering people whose politics skew to the Right.

Geraldo's History
September 6, 2007 - 12:46 ET by allanfGiven Geraldo's history as a degeneate womanizer, he do a little more than spit on Malkin.
In any case, he is sure to get slapped down.
Bizarre, but not unexpected.
September 6, 2007 - 12:53 ET by tnculpNaming her worst person in the world b/c Geraldo wants to spit on her? Only in Olberdouche land! This shouldn't come as a surprise. He isn't exactly known for his intellect. I mean they call them "special" comments for a reason.

I've noticed that FoxNews has taken on a more trashy, tabloid style in the last year or so. I think Rivera's omnipresence has something to do with that (not to mention O'Reilly's exposes on drunken college coed beach bimbos)

Malkin meets Soviet Olberfem and Rivers
September 6, 2007 - 13:23 ET by Lame CherryOK so I notice that Michele Malkin is a babe and so do Keeter Olberman and Jerry Rivers and that is what gets these comrades so hot under the belt.
Olberman and Rivers expect women to be docile and "willing", especially Asian babes.........but here is Ms. Malkin running around kicking sand in every idiot's face at about 5 foot nothing and needing rocks in her pockets to keep her from blowing away in the wind.
It is an honor to make Olberman foam at the mouth and I guess considering the body fluids Jerry Rivers usually attacks women with spit is about as good as it gets. It is a disgusting thing though for anyone to stoop to spitting.........I once had a woman spit at me in a an email..........I found that quite hillarious as I had never heard of such a thing lol.
So it is back to the compound with Michele being more tough guy as a lady than Olberfem and Rivers trying to be tough guys.
I like that Olberfem.......maybe Rivers and the girly guy can have a spitting contest......winner gets whipped by Janet Reno and Hillary Clinton for being bad boys.

September 6, 2007 - 20:53 ET by MikeBWell, tough guy Geraldo got himself a broken nose (on national television) from mouthing off to a skinhead. It makes me wonder how big a can of whoop*** he can get opened on himself by attempting to live up to his brag. It would be so nice if he got his jaw busted up, such that it required being wired together so he couldn't talk for a few weeks.
Hey, Gerry, you are such a publicity whore, you do that so that it is caught on tape, and I can guarantee you that if it appears on Youtube, it will be one of the all time most popular videos. I know I'd watch it several times a week.

Misogyny?
September 6, 2007 - 19:00 ET by TocanoPerhaps I'm just being a male feminist, but I'm not sure I see misogyny. Perhaps if Geraldo or Olbermann were consistently more considerate with men and then this happened, then maybe, but they're pretty equal opportunity when it comes to spiteful refrains.
If I replace 'her' with 'him' and have him saying this to a guy, it holds the same meaning. I may look at the word misogyny incorrectly, but when considering it I ask "Is this saying negative things about or in reference to their gender?" For example, Dan Rather saying that the news had become "tarted up" since Katie took over was both derrogatory to women in general and to her specifically. But in this case, Geraldo was being malicious and nasty for sure, but I don't know that I see where one can draw that it was a gender-based attack.
And correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't want to set too loose a definition of misogyny. I guess I fear misogynism labels being thrown at conservatives every time that we criticize a woman (and we do have one running for President that I'm sure will get conservative criticism).
So as Bill would say, "Where am I going wrong?"
"“She actually believes
September 6, 2007 - 18:15 ET by Khyris"“She actually believes that neighbors should start snitching out neighbors,"
It's this amazing new invention called the "neighborhood watch" Maybe you've heard if it? It's when neighbors pledge to report and defend against criminal activity in their neighborhoods. Sorry if that's too difficult a concept for you to grasp Jerry...
Geraldo's anger
September 6, 2007 - 19:31 ET by krismcsherry“I’d spit on her if I saw her"
This is a general expression of hate, not misogynistic, unless perhaps you consider the source. It can be used against men as well and isn't something that only applies to women. I don't know if Rivera is a woman-hater but if he is then I guess it can be construed as misogynistic. Geraldo's weird. Never has anything interesting to say. His stance on illegal immigration makes little sense. He ignores the holes in his logic like he does the fact that Michelle Malkin is 100 times smarter and prettier than he is.
I won't even mention the Gerrible Geraldo mustache.
As for O'Reilly's show: I used to watch it but the show seems dumbed down lately (hence, Rivera). Either that or I'm getting smarter by hanging round Newbusters and The Reference Frame.
And yeah, libs get away with this nastiness all the time. It's like habitually misbehaving kids who get away with things when a good kid wouldn't.
As Slim Pickens so
September 6, 2007 - 23:29 ET by Carl KolchakAs Slim Pickens so eloquently says "What in the wide wide world of sports is a going on here?" I watched the cheesy halftime show on NBC tonight, and have no idea what was up with Olberman's cheesy worst person in the NFL. Costas pumped this up like it was something great, Olberman comes in and gives some cheesy speech about some red phone that he has, and he can't let anyone know who might be calling him. Then after all of this, he picks himself as the worst person in the NFL. Is Olberman in the NFL or any way affiliated with the NFL? I doubt I will be watching NBC's halftime show to see who Olberman picks as the worst person in the NFL anymore.
"How bout some more beans Mr. Taggart?"

September 7, 2007 - 08:16 ET by RedGuyBlueStateSo, Gerry gets all bent out of shape when O'Reilly is being "racist" about illegal Hispanic immigrants, but it's ok to want to spit on the daughter of Filipino immigrants (per FoxNews Bio)? Is he still mad about the Al Capone vault thing?
