CMI On TV -- Marriage is Just a Tool for 'Revenge'

If only “Revenge” used its powers for good. The ABC show is known for witty dialogue and great plot twists. In the most recent episode, they combine to make marriage seem an empty shell. Revenge and leverage prove more powerful in marriage and divorce than love or honoring life-long vows.

On their honeymoon, Amanda (Margarita Levieva) and Jack (Nick Wechsler) get jumped by a gunman, and Amanda tells him she only married Jack for revenge against the Graysons. The gunman, intrigued, stops threatening her and joins her in attacking this powerful family.

Further on, Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) tells Conrad (Henry Czerny) that they're going to get divorced- "we had a deal." "Oh, no, no, no, my pet. You made a proclamation that I never agreed to," he retorts. They "can't possibly disentangle now," because "voters worship family values, and without you at my side, my ambitions will fail."

Victoria doesn't care about his ambitions, but when he mentions their son, she drops the issue.
