Chelsea Handler: ‘Right Now, You Can’t Be a Republican’

Chelsea Handler seems to be everywhere at once. The brash and crude Chelsea show host was a guest in a spate of recent interviews hosted by outlets like Harper’s Bazaar, Huffington Post and Politico. And although her words are often inflammatory, she is predictably never called out by the media.

During an AOL Build interview, the comedian discussed a dinner she once attended with Ann Coulter and Bill Maher, who are surprisingly friends. Handler expressed the belief that Coulter did not legitimately adhere to her conservative views, rather airing them as a “shtick” and “a way to be well known.”

“At least I’m hoping. She’ll never admit that,” Handler continued.

“About racist nationalism through- for entertainment purposes?” host Ricky Camilleri interjected.

“Yeah, well, just to be a Republican,” Handler responded, “you know, like, in this day and age. I’m all for bipartisanship, but like, right now, you can’t be a Republican, like, come on!” she exclaimed incredulously.

“So you, get out now … just kidding,” Camilleri laughed.

In a July DNC convention interview with Politico, Handler aired similarly provocative ideas, declaring that only people who care about what is going on around the world should be allowed to vote. “You shouldn’t be able to vote without a fucking passport,” she exclaimed heatedly.

I might be wrong, but that probably eliminates illegal immigrants. Can you imagine what the media would say if Trump expressed analogous sentiments?
