Popcorn & Propaganda: 5 Outrageously Lefty Flicks

July 15th, 2016 3:36 PM

Hollywood’s agenda-pushing is no secret. In fact, producers and actors don’t even attempt to deny it. In interviews conducted by Ben Shapiro, executive producer Leonard Goldberg stated that Hollywood liberalism is “100 percent dominant, and anyone who denies it is kidding, or not telling the truth.”

Even if everyone denied it, you’d only have to watch a handful of movies to catch the ideological drift. So here’s the handful that MRC Culture recommends – or, doesn’t – a list of some of the worst offenders. It was hard to choose, and we know there are many more liberal films out there, so take a look and leave a comment with movies your top picks.

The Truman Show – God’s Like a Cruel Director

Jim Carrey stars in The Truman Show, a mind-bending movie about a man who is raised inside of a TV set, believing it to be real life. High above is the director – Cristof – who controls Truman’s life and uses fear to hold him back from exploring his surrounding and escaping the set. When an advocate of the “Free Truman” campaign calls in to speak with Cristof, the latter says: “The world, the place you live in, is the sick place. Seahaven is the way the world should be.” Notice the eerie resemblance between ‘Cristof’ and ‘Christ’? What about ‘Seahaven’ and ‘Heaven’? ‘Truman’ and ‘True man’?

The Cider House RulesA Pro-Choice Dream

Set between the 1920s and 1950s in rural Maine, The Cider House Rules is a cinematic delight. From the start, the viewer is met with endearing characters and simpler times, until abortion is brought into the picture. Homer Wells, an orphan, is raised by a doctor who takes care of unwanted pregnancies; however, Homer believes that abortion is morally wrong and that people should be “responsible enough to control themselves.” Yet, after experiencing the world (yes, premarital sex) and being exposed to the trauma of a father impregnating his daughter, Homer changes his mind and begins to conduct abortions too.

Avatar – Nature is God

In this James Cameron directed film, humans occupy planet Pandora. In an interview about the movie, Cameron declared that greed and imperialism "tend to destroy the environment..." and how the humans in the sci-fi film “are doing the same thing on another pristine planet that we've done on earth."

The Danish Girl – If Your Husband Becomes a Woman, Tell Him It’s OK

The Danish Girl is a Hollywood rendition of the first gender change surgery in history. The story follows Danish artists Einar and Gerda Wegener who were happily married, until Einar announced that he had always felt like a woman and wanted to dress and act like one too. Although Gerda initially cannot accept this change, she finally, like a good and progressive wife, supports Einar (now going by ‘Lili’) in his avant-garde sex change operation.  In a tender moment, ‘Lili’ tells Gerda: “I love you, because you are the only person who made sense of me. And made me possible.”
