Lefty rags like Mother Jones wouldn’t exist without dudgeon -- low, high or in between. But surely they can give it a rest on Thanksgiving? No! Thanksgiving is a day to get especially dudgeony for good progressives. (You know, the kind of morally serious individuals that would publicly compare a lost election to the 9-11 attacks.)
You see, Thanksgiving is a painful reminder to Mother Jones-types that America exists. That makes them grouchy and puts them off their tofurkey, locally sourced kale and craft beer. And they feel the need to make sure you don’t enjoy your non-genetically modified artisan cumquats either.
In the case of Mother’s Jones’s Ben Dreyfuss, what really scorches his organic yams each Thanksgiving is the annual tweet from the Washington Redskins – you know, the simple, “from our family to yours” tweet wishing Happy Thanksgiving.
Dreyfuss has been rerunning his outraged post from Thanksgiving 2014, when he assumedly first noticed this social media hate crime. He updates it each year by adding the Skins’ latest digital outrage.

According to Dreyfuss, America has an “indefensible history of slaughtering Native Americans,” and the team has an “offensive, racist name; a slur against Native Americans.” And … and Dreyfuss’s screeching sounds even more desperate this year, since it turns out that 90% of American Indians decline to be outraged at the Redskins’ name.
George Will recently wrote a column titled, “Be Thankful You Have Something to Grumble About.” It’s not a reminder Mother Jones and the rest of the left needs. As long as there’s America (and at the very least, the Redskins), they’ll have something to hate.
