‘Walking Dead’: Carol Takes a Walk, But Where to?

OK, didn’t see that coming. At least not when the episode began. Yes, Carol killed the sick folk, and justice (or at least resolution) had to come. But cutting her loose?

Carol was a well-developed tier 2 character – one that I bet a lot of viewers had something invested in. She hadn’t been fully used by the writers, the way Andrea was. (If you think about it, there was nowhere left for Andrea to go, character-wise. Killing her off made sense.)

And Melissa McBride, who plays Carol, told Entertainment Weekly, “I hope that’s not the last of her, but you know the way this show is … It’s unpredictable.” So she’s ain’t gone for good, in my opinion.  Let’s run through some possibilities for Carol’s story ark:

  • She meets up with The Governor, and together they plot their revenge on Rick n’ co.
  • She meets The Governor and kills him. She drives up to the prison gates and, as Rick watches, tosses the Gov’s head over it. BOOM! Rick has to take her back. (But maybe she won’t come back. Maybe she’ll be all cool and just get back in the Prius of Death and drive away!)
  • She happens across Darryl at a moment of peril and saves his life. Darryl convinces Rick to take her back. But then she finds out that in the meantime, Darryl and Michonne have hooked up, and she leaves again, broken hearted.
  • She finds out that in the meantime, Darryl and Michonne have hooked up. She drives up to the prison gates and, as Rick watches, tosses Michonne’s head over it. BOOM! (Stupid, yes, but how cool would that be?)

A couple of other Qs: Is Darryl gonna be OK with this? This would be the second person he loved that Rick banished from the group. What part does Glenn’s illness play? If he dies, does it impact the Carol story? Finally, can somebody please kill off the alcoholic guy before that story line really gets going?
