MMA Fighter Rousey Visits Standing Rock Protesters

Next time Meryl Streep or some other Hollywood culture maven decides to look down her nose at mixed martial arts (“which are not the arts,” Streep huffed during her obnoxious Golden Globes rant), she may want to consider that she has at least one high-profile political ally in the octagon.

Former UFC champion Rhonda Rousey, an outspoken Trump critic, is apparently a sucker for fashionable lefty causes. According to the New York Daily News, she and Olympic judo competitor Paulina Macias recently went to Standing Rock with goodies for the Dakota Access Pipeline protesters.

The pair brought fresh fruit, vegetables, tents and wood-burning stoves to the site of controversy, just days ahead of President Trump’s order to continue construction on the land.

Yeah, the timing’s gotta hurt.

As for Trump, in August 2015 he – in true Trump fashion – told an interviewer that Rousey “likes me.” It turned out, not so much. “Um, I mean, I wouldn’t vote for him,” Rousey CNN interlocutor. “I just really wouldn’t trust the guy with running my country, that’s all. I’m not really going to get into the specifics of it. I don’t want a reality-TV star to be running my country.”
