Day 2 of Obama's Magical Media Tour: He Speaks of How Bush Makes World Bleak

Photo of Brent Baker.

For the second night in a row, on Sunday night the ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscasts all led with Barack Obama's overseas trip as CBS Evening News anchor Forrest Sawyer trumpeted: “Tonight, Barack Obama on the U.S. challenge in Afghanistan, laying out the stakes in an exclusive CBS News interview.” Reporter Lara Logan set up a condensed version of her interview which had consumed the first ten minutes of Face the Nation: “Speaking out for the first time since arriving in Kabul this weekend, Senator Barack Obama offered a bleak assessment of the worsening conditions inside Afghanistan.”

On ABC's World News, anchor David Muir led with how “Barack Obama is calling it one of the biggest mistakes made in the war on terror: The Bush administration's decision to focus on Iraq rather than Afghanistan.” NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt admired Obama's need to walk on a “diplomatic and political tight rope, trying to balance his role as a U.S. Senator versus that of a presidential candidate” before heralding:

His words tonight are reverberating from the war fronts in Afghanistan and Iraq to the Pentagon.

Logan concluded her Evening News story from Kabul by relaying his reassuring priority:

Obama told us that the main focus of the U.S. war against terrorism has to be Afghanistan and he said his mission here as President would be to disable al-Qaeda and the Taliban so they can no longer target the U.S. or its allies.

Transcript and video of Logan's interview, as posted on CBS's page for Face the Nation.

My Saturday night NewsBusters item, “Day 1 of Obama's Magical Media Tour: All Air from Outside the Paint!

Muir opened the Sunday, July 20 World News:

Good evening. Barack Obama is calling it one of the biggest mistakes made in the war on terror: The Bush administration's decision to focus on Iraq rather than Afghanistan. And Obama had a captive audience today as he sat down with the President of Afghanistan. Hamid Karzai. Obama's trying to sharpen his policy differences with John McCain on this, his second day of his foreign tour...

Holt led NBC Nightly News:

Good evening, everyone. Barack Obama's venture onto the world stage has already proven to be a walk onto a diplomatic and political tight rope, trying to balance his role as a U.S. Senator versus that of a presidential candidate. He came face-to-face in Kabul today with the leader of Afghanistan to talk about a resurgent Taliban. But Obama is also talking U.S. policy and his own vision of the future of American military power in the region. And his words tonight are reverberating from the war fronts in Afghanistan and Iraq to the Pentagon...

Ya Know, it isn't too smart to insult People who are Armed...

The Military can spread news faster than AP...amongst themselves..and another Left opinion of how "Badly" the War is "Failed"... when we are still Fighting....will just be another Harry Reid like speech, and the Military will spread the word....amongst themselves......Obama is who we thought he was last year..."PULL OUT NOW" no matter what.

Looks like "Move on dot ORG" is  visiting the Troops, and the Troops ain't gonna like it.......

And ANOTHER THING....You don't go to a War zone and INSULT the Commander in Chief....I don't care who you are.  That's unforgivable behaviour, bordering on stupidity, if not Treason.

The Republican Revolution will not be Televised

I agree JT

The insult was way out of line...

But I think the comments about the war are even worse.. that's insulting the troops... I hope his karma catches up to him real quick..

NOBAMA 08 !!!

November Karma...

...will definitely catch up with this "wannabee" imposter.

Gilligan's Island

Hussein make a three hour tour of Afghanistan and his brain will never be seen again, too small to find in his large water filled head. Electrical impulses (brain waves)  are shorted out by the water. Is Pooh Bear with him to provide expert foreign policy advice. First statement out of Iraq was a mistake, or was it a total lie by a reporter?

Old, Retired and glad of it.

I saw the Face the Nation

I saw the Face the Nation interview this morning...there was noise going on in the house at the time, but my ear was mostly to the interview...what I got out of all of that was a complete circle jerk by Obama...complete.

He said nothing...he started from the beginning of his BS and she had him end up admitting it to a point...of course somehow it all seemed good to the leftists and the intentionally ill-informed....maybe.

Tonight

The photo on Aljazeera says it all. Is the domocrat king surrounded by adoring military men? NO!

The ones in the photo with few exceptions, are not even looking at him.

They may be ordered to be in the same room but that is as far as the military can push it.

He is an ASS. Someone should remind the little prick and his fawning press that he is NOT president yet!

"They're both doofuses!" --Mark Levin (speaking of Obama and McCain)

Obama, should go home to his mama

President Bush ran two wars as Commander-in-Chief because Congress so "ordered" him to. Obama is a liar, just like he always is. The man, as far as I am concerned, should be put on trial, right now, and put in prison for treason for speaking against a war like that. It proves his total lack of patriotism. Why? Because if Congress authorized the war, you cannot be against it without being a traitor to your country, since war is the ultimate protection of our country. In otherwords, if you are against the war, you are against protecting our country, and thus you are against our country, and thus you are a traitor. Your free speech and free press rights are trumped by the defense of our country.

As for worsening conditions in Afghanistan, the moron Obama cannot be worthy of title of Commander-in-Chief, because he is too stupid to realize that our troops did a manificient job (which he still refuses acknowledge and give them praise, by the way), along with Iraqi troops, in capturing or destroying most of al Qaida and other insurgents in Iraq, and so most of the rest have left and went into Afghanistan, because we scared the shit out of them and they ran like the cowards they have always been.

But never fear, Obama, our troops will eventually get the intel they need and then smash them just like they did in Iraq. As for your criticism, I challenge you to debate me face to face, because I will make you look like the total, worthless fool that you really are. You are a liar. You are not worthy of this country. You are a hate-monger, lover (your former pastor). You are not patriotic and you have no ambition for this country, except to see it destroyed by terrorists, because IHMO, you are a "terrorist's best friend".

And for you who have voted for him in the primaries, or plan too in the election, you are totally deceived and even dumber than Obama. You are so stupid, and the proof is, that Obama is so stupid, and yet you like this stupid person.

Obama and Logan

Obama is beginning to trveal certain aspects of what an Obama presidency will be like. Unintentionally, I believe his response to any criticism of him, his wife, of anything in his past or his policies have shown him to be a petty man unable to accept his own human failings. We see the results when he lashes out in betrayal of his pastor, when he insists that the press has made a clerical error in transcription of his remarks or that his speechwriters erred in the words they chose to represent his ideas. He sent Michelle out to campaign, then placed her off limits when her words began to get unfavorable notice. He or his agents still attach modifiers and new intentions to her statements as in: America is a "downright mean country" tonight on Hannity becomes only "the election process is mean." As time goes by and memory fades she will have said "George Bush has made this a mean world for our good country." I am reminded of Nixon and his lists when Obama deflects blame and faults the public interpretation of his words. Nixon thought he was right in his worldview and his critics not just wrong, but part of a conspiracy against him and the country. Hence the lists. Obama thinks he is not only correct in his views, but that his views will save the world. His critics are not just wrong, they are stupid. Hence in the row over Jerusalem, his speechwriters gave him poor phrases and the stupid public misinterprets those words. All criticism is refuted, good press rewarded.

His comments in the Logan interview is a case in point. First, those rumor that she uh, uh, paid for it are just not true. A camera was always on the two of them. Yes! It is all on tape, but there was no...never mind, Laura Logan has worked her way to the top the old fashioned way, she earned it! In a few short years.

If anyone would take the time to understand his Afghanistan policy he would see that it is not too much different that the President's. Except Obama has announced to a Nuclear armed country that unless they do as Obama says, he will invade them. Good move. If McCain had said the same things the press would be howling about a crazy old man starting a nuclear war.

Blood for oil. . .errrr, I mean rocks

Let me get this straight, Obama is just a chicken-hawk war monger who wants to send our troops to Afghanistan where there are no WMD's. Is this what the left has been pushing for all along?

Obamableakness

The bleaknes of today's world comes not from Bush, but from the prospect of the totalitarian "utopia" pushed by the Obamessiah. Woe be to those who worship the created instead of the creator.

Media Tour

Someone tagged Clinton as the first black president and Obama as the first black Clinton. How true! Be careful of this sharp tounged black man. His mantra during the campaign was to bring our troops HOME from Iraq. There now seems to be a slight detour in the plan. There is a stopover in Afghanistan.

Well, at least Logan

Well, at least Logan remained in the "vertical and upright position" during the interview.

Who knows about after the

Who knows about after the interview though? Maybe that's why he made Michelle stay home. ;) Logan looks a lot better than Monica, that's for sure.

Yup, you gotta point

Yup, you gotta point there.

Plus, the presumptive First Lady should not have to dodge bullets or suffer thru corkscrew landings. Just living her tough day-to-day life is bad enough.

Is this the same Lara Logan

Is this the same Lara Logan who has had two affairs with married men and is how pregnant by one of them? Nice girl if it is.
