CNN's Chris Cuomo won't even accept that health care problems can be solved without the government. On Thursday's New Day, he arrogantly dismissed that notion put forward by conservative guest Will Cain.
"You have to have the government involved with health care. And you know that," he condescended to Cain, who had first argued that "conservatives believe solutions can exist outside the constructs of government." Cuomo expounded on his pro-government reasoning in the following exchange :
CNN's Chris Cuomo and Kate Bolduan cautioned against MSNBC suspending or firing host Martin Bashir for his latest broadside against Sarah Palin, on Thursday's New Day. Cuomo actually asked if he wasn't just trying to make a "rhetorical point" rather than be "hurtful" to Palin.
Bashir had clearly stated that Palin was "the outstanding candidate" to receive a certain punishment for slaves – defecating in their mouths – for her remarks on slavery. Despite the gravitas of his words CNN gave him some benefit of the doubt while ignoring his history of vile smears of Republicans, the worst of which is documented below.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, CNN ignored a bombshell revelation that "30 to 40" percent of the online federal exchange has not been completed almost two months after its rollout.
CNN prefaced the hearing Tuesday morning by reporting that ObamaCare's "top technology manager" Henry Chao was set to testify before Congress. Although CNN.com reported Chao's words, the network completely missed the story.
A day after a high-ranking Medicare official estimated that "30 to 40 percent" of ObamaCare's federal exchange hasn't even been built more than a month after its rollout, CNN's Chris Cuomo actually challenged the notion that ObamaCare is "not working."
"How can we say it's not working when it isn't implemented yet? How can you say premiums are skyrocketing when they haven't put the plans into effect yet?" Cuomo asked Sen. Ted Cruz, on Wednesday's New Day, after Cruz stated that the law "isn't working, let's start over."
How's this for intellectual diversity? The panel on Monday's AC360 Later included three NYC liberals and was unanimous in support of same-sex marriage. The topic was the spat between Liz and Mary Cheney.
"I don't think you can actually respect somebody to whom you want to deny the most basic rights," declared The Daily Beast's Peter Beinart, who also teaches journalism at the City University of New York.
On Friday night's Piers Morgan Live, Obama donor Harvey Weinstein excused President Obama's insurance lie as a "mistake" and called America "embarrassing" for not having "health care" and "a gun law."
"[T]his is the only the country in the world where we don't have health care. Countries embarrass us around the world. And this is the only country in the world, we don't have a gun law. I watched you, you know, talk about that. You know, quite frankly it's embarrassing. Obama is not embarrassing. The country is embarrassing," Weinstein ranted on CNN.
Piers Morgan once said "a lot of things are just perfect about Barack Obama," but now the President is in the liberal CNN host's doghouse. According to Morgan's repeated comments on his Friday night show, the President's credibility had been completely shredded.
"I find it very difficult, this ObamaCare thing. When I see the repeated footage of him standing there saying, you can keep your doctor, you can keep your plan, just telling it outright porky pie to the American public, I don't like it. It's not the Barack Obama that I expected," Morgan lamented.
On Sunday's Reliable Sources, former PBS and CBS reporter Terence Smith said President Obama "has a point" when complaining of media malpractice in covering ObamaCare.
"I think, in fact, in this case, the President has a point, however, that headlines like that, 'Disaster,' you're labeling ObamaCare before it has a chance," insisted Smith, who once defended the legacy of Jimmy Carter while ripping Reagan's management of government.
CNN's Chris Cuomo was in full ObamaCare-apologist mode on Friday's New Day, asking if the uproar over millions losing their insurance wasn't a "straw man" that Republicans were "distracting" the media with.
"So it comes to are we being distracted in the media into this political play by opponents of President Obama and making this more than it is?" Cuomo said of the "five percent" who lost or were set to lose their insurance on the individual market before President Obama promised a "fix."
CNN's Christiane Amanpour has a staunchly liberal track record, so perhaps it's surprising that she was so candid about the Obama administration overseas like she was in Morocco on Thursday.
According to CNN.com, Amanpour "described the U.S. administration of President Barack Obama as the most 'litigious against journalists that we have had in decades'."
On CNN Friday morning, TheBlaze's Will Cain ripped the network and others who are lecturing Republicans to stop repealing the law and start fixing it.
"The truth is this, ObamaCare was a house built upon sand. Republicans said it was for years. And now, and now that the sand is melting away from underneath this thing, it's amazing how many times we have to hear, "why don't you help fix it? Come pour a real foundation,'" he insisted. On the previous day, CNN's John Berman had implied that Republicans should help fix the law instead of trying to do away with it.
After President Obama's Thursday press conference on his ObamaCare "fix," CNN's John Berman declared the ObamaCare debate over and pushed Republicans to cooperate in fixing it.
"That was the debate from 2010 and the plan passed. Now it's about implementing this plan. Good or bad, at this point," he lectured GOP guest Rich Galen, who had criticized ObamaCare's "complex and top-down, top-heavy system."
On Tuesday's The Lead, liberal historian Doris Kearns Goodwin dismissed the notion that the media is in President Obama's "pocket."
"I don't think the country would feel that his way of dealing with the country has been eased by the press," she lamented of Obama and the media. "I think the press is much more complicated today. I think ever since Watergate there's a more antagonistic view between presidents and press."
Once again, CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta cast President Obama's "you can keep your health care plan" lie as something much more innocent. On Tuesday's Piers Morgan Live, he framed it as a messaging problem rather than a lie, and said the new ObamaCare plans were like a "Ferrari."
"I think with regard to this idea of keeping the plans, I think that this is another example of the message really having been not properly given," he admitted. Gupta then switched to explaining benefits of ObamaCare and noted what the White House should have told the millions of Americans who stood to lose their health insurance.
On his Monday show, CNN's Piers Morgan let liberal journalist Mark Hertsgaard bully fellow guest Roy Spencer for being skeptical of how much human activity is to blame for global warming.
"I don't think that we should be talking to climate deniers about climate stories. That is journalistically irresponsible," Hertsgaard insisted of Spencer, a former NASA climate studies senior scientist. Spencer hadn't denied global warming; he was skeptical of how much of it was manmade.
The Obama administration exempted the federal exchanges and subsidies in ObamaCare from federal health laws against kickbacks, fraud, and bribery, the New York Times reported last week. CNN has ignored this story, however.
The Times stated: "The surprise decision, disclosed last week, exempts subsidized health insurance from a law that bans rebates, kickbacks, bribes and certain other financial arrangements in federal health programs." Commentary magazine noted that "it encourages precisely the kickback schemes this statute was put in place to prevent."
Thursday's New Day smacked Republicans for politicizing their Benghazi investigation, and conservative guest Will Cain retorted that CNN was "attacking the messenger."
"You have a negative mythology to what happened in Benghazi that is not supported by fact, it's supported by speculation," co-host Chris Cuomo spat on GOP accusations against the administration.
On Tuesday, CNN's Carol Costello lectured Republicans to stop grilling HHS Secretary Sebelius over ObamaCare and "sit down with Democrats to come up with some solutions."
"What in your mind is the point of this? Haven't we heard enough from Kathleen Sebelius?" Costello huffed to GOP Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn as Sebelius testified before the Senate Finance Committee. Costello told her that "Americans want solutions" over more hearings.
The international community won't be voting in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, but on Tuesday's AC360 Later CNN's Christiane Amanpour let viewers know that they disapprove of the "extreme wing of the Republican Party."
"Well, from an international perspective, I can tell you that there is a massive and mass scratching of heads as people out there look at what's going on in the United States," Amanpour declared before pointing to the shutdown and the threat of not raising the debt ceiling.
CNN is still giving President Obama the extreme benefit of the doubt over his false promise that Americans could keep their insurance under ObamaCare.
The President added words to his promise on Tuesday, that Americans could keep their insurance "if it hasn't changed since the law passed." Anchor Ashleigh Banfield then suggested he call his initial promise an "oversight" and rebuked conservative guest Will Cain who called it a "lie."
