No Fooling: Salon Hails Swedish Dictionary’s Inclusion of Gender-Neutral Pronoun ‘Hen’
April 2, 2015, 4:31 PM EDT

Hen. Three little letters that make up a gender-neutral Swedish pronoun could become a new progressive rallying cry.

The Swedish Academy’s SAOL dictionary is adding “hen” as an official gender-neutral counterpart to the oh-so-restrictive “binary” options “han” (male) and “hon” (female), The Washington Post reported on April 1, 2015. But it was no April Fool’s joke.

Liberals hailed the addition as a sign that the oppressive, old-fashioned society where teachers can address a class as “boys and girls” was crumbling and wanted to know when English would catch up.

Gingrich: Media And Left Part of ‘Lynch Mob’ Over Indiana Law
April 1, 2015, 8:53 PM EDT

Celebrities, high-profile executives and media outlets gunning for Indiana Gov. Mike Pence and the state’s new religious freedom law are a “lynch mob,” Newt Gingrich said today in a HuffPost Live interview.

Everyone from singer Miley Cyrus to Apple CEO Tim Cook has taken a shot at Indiana SB 101, legislation that the “lynch mob” has decided opens a universal door for discrimination against gay people.

Miley Cyrus: Indiana Law ‘Dinosaurs’ ‘Dying Off’
April 1, 2015, 4:55 PM EDT

Left-wing singer Miley Cyrus wants to take her famous Wrecking Ball to Indiana’s new Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Cyrus followed up her “asshole” comment from last week by saying supporters of the state law haven’t evolved as much as she has.

Cyrus referenced her wholesome stint as Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana before calling supporters of Indiana’s religious freedom law “dinosaurs” on their way to “dying off,” according toTime.

Study: Millennials Still Question Morality of Gay Sex, Abortion
March 31, 2015, 4:01 PM EDT

Hear that? It's the sighs of disappointment in Hollywood, mixed with the howls of rage on the sex-obsessed left. It turns out, young adults aren’t nearly as immoral as they were supposed to be by now.

Millennials are often lauded as the left’s great hope for a liberal society. After all, this is the generation that has loved “inclusive” TV hits like Glee and Modern Family; overwhelmingly supported Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns; and been able to spread its ideas through social media far faster than any preceding generation.

But when actually questioned about their beliefs, millennials are neither as cavalier about sex nor as enthusiastic about abortion as the media would have you believe, according to a new study from the nonprofit, nonpartisan Public Religion Research Institute.

GLAAD Awards: Kerry Washington Lauded for Pro-LGBT Clarion Call
March 31, 2015, 3:45 PM EDT

Actress Kerry Washington got snaps from the media for her pro-LGBT speech after she received GLAAD’s Vanguard Award at the group’s 26th annual ceremony.

“Kerry Washington Rouses in Speech on LGBT Rights” was The Wrap’s headline, while E! News gushed with “Kerry Washington Gives Powerful, Moving Speech at 2015 GLAAD Media Awards” and CNN reported, “Kerry Washington brings cheering crowd to its feet in GLAAD speech.”

Slate’s Marcotte Finds Free Birth Control Bill ‘Condescending’
March 27, 2015, 11:47 AM EDT

Government-funded contraception is a fine mantra, say liberals – but you’d better be careful to offer it in a way that shows you “respect women’s intelligence.”

In response to an Arkansas lawmaker’s proposition that Medicaid offer free surgically implanted contraception to single mothers of one child, Slate’s Amanda Marcotte said the program to cover intrauterine devices disrespects women in a piece headlined “Arkansas Legislator Says Single Mothers Should Get Free IUDs for the Sake of ‘Taxpayers.’”

A&E Swinger Lifestyle Show Panned as 'Stilted,' 'Boring,' 'Awkward' TV
March 24, 2015, 11:43 AM EDT

Turns out that life as a swinger means a lot of work for a "cringe-worthy" payoff, according to Entertainment Weekly's review of new A&E show Neighbors with Benefits.

“They should have just called it Awkward Encounters. Make that, incredibly awkward,” Entertainment Weekly described the new reality show, which portrays the intimately intersecting lives of couples in an unnamed suburban Ohio neighborhood. “While the idea of swinging is supposed to be titillating … Neighbors with Benefits proves it’s kind of anything but.”

Sense: Actress Zoe Saldana Says Dolce & Gabbana ‘Allowed' to Have 'Their Own Opinion’
March 23, 2015, 12:37 PM EDT

When you think of free speech, the GLAAD Media Awards probably don’t leap to mind. After all, GLAAD is the self-appointed pro-LGBT speech police, and it gives awards to media outlets and figures that toe the line. But nobody told actress Zoe Saldana.

After Dolce & Gabbana made comments critical of in vitro fertilization and affirming the concept of the traditional family, celebrities including Ricky Martin vowed to join Elton John’s purported boycott of their luxury fashion brand. But when asked by E! News if she would boycott D&G, the Guardians of the Galaxy star Saldana said Domenico Dolce was "allowed” to have his own opinion.

Entourage Actress Mazar: Italy Is ‘Backwards’ Because ‘It's Where the Vatican Is’
March 19, 2015, 10:29 AM EDT

Actress Debi Mazar thinks Italy has “a lot of oppression” since “it’s where the Vatican is,” she said Wednesday in an interview with HuffPost Live.

The Queens-born Entourage regular is the lead of a new TV Land series called Younger, where she plays a single mother who is gay.

“I don’t really think in those terms because I just think people should love who they wanna be in love with,” Mazar told host Marc Lamont Hill in the segment. “So I’m just playing someone, Maggie, who’s a person, who happens just to like chicks instead of guys.”

Mazar blamed Catholic influence when asked to comment on the recent tiff between performer Elton John and designers Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce, the team behind the luxury brand Dolce & Gabbana.

Barney Frank: Hillary E-Mail Scandal ‘Not Very Intelligent of Her’
March 17, 2015, 5:30 PM EDT

Hillary Clinton’s e-mail controversy continues to haunt her as even her supporters admit the former senator did wrong by using a private server during her four years as Secretary of State.

“I think she made a mistake,” Barney Frank told host Alyona Minkovski on a HuffPost Live segment that aired today. “That was not very intelligent of her.”

Frank, who served as a Democratic congressman for Massachusetts for more than 30 years, was the first openly gay members of Congress. He appeared on HuffPost Live to discuss his recently published memoir, Frank: A Life in Politics from the Great Society to Same-Sex Marriage.
