Feminist author Margaret Atwood, on Tuesday’s Charlie Rose show, accused pro-lifers of chaining pregnant women to their beds to force them to have babies they don’t want.
Just imagine the reaction of the liberal media if a video had surfaced of a George W. Bush administration official admitting that “lack of transparency” was “a huge political advantage” in selling the Iraq war and that they relied on the “stupidity of the American voter” to launch an attack on Iraq? That video would be everywhere. However, the clip of ObamaCare architect Jonathan Gruber using those exact phrases in talking about the passage of the Affordable Care Act has yet to be reported on ABC or NBC’s evening or morning shows.
On Friday CNBC’s Ron Insana and Fox Business News’s Charles Gasparino engaged in a Twitter fight that included cheap shots like “you will always be a fat slob i’d smack u silly but it wld be considered child abuse” from Gasparino and comebacks from Insana like: “you shall remain a single-source shill for whomever whispers in your ear. As for the smack down, not worried.”
On November 5, Judicial Watch announced that the IRS admitted “that it failed to search any of the IRS standard computer systems for the ‘missing’ emails of Lois Lerner and other IRS officials.” The admission comes after the government watchdog group made a “request that a federal court judge allow discovery into how ‘lost and/or destroyed’ IRS records relating to the targeting of conservative groups may be retrieved.” So how many networks stories have been dedicated to this latest revelation in the IRS scandal? 0.
NBC’s Chuck Todd recognized what even the President doesn’t seem to get. That the Republican landslide on Election Day should’ve “put an end” to Barack Obama acting alone on immigration reform via an executive order.
On Thursday, Charlie Rose invited singer-songwriter Neil Young on his PBS show to promote his latest album and played a clip of the Woodstock-generation singer’s first single - basically an anthem against Big Oil called “Who is Going to Stand Up?” In the clip Young calls for the end of fossil fuel and fracking.
When Charlie Rose, on his Thursday PBS show, asked the current Bloomberg View columnist why Obama had become “such a liability” to the Democratic Party in this 2014 election cycle, Lewis responded that it was “unfair” and then predicted: “I think history is going to be very kind to him...the year after he’s out people are going to miss him.
Despite a plethora of Democratic candidates this year who have embarrassed their party – from Wendy Davis attacking her opponent’s disability to Kentucky Democratic Senate candidate Alison Grimes refusing to say if she voted for the President to Nikki Haley’s Democratic male opponent calling her a whore – the Big Three (ABC, CBS, NBC) networks have been almost silent in airing these stories on their evening and morning shows.
Bristol Palin, on Thursday, responded to Carol Costello’s joking about her assault and subsequent apology. Palin also pointed out the liberal media's double-standard when it comes to treating family members of Democratic politicians.
On Thursday, CNN’s Carol Costello offered an apology to the Palin family, via a statement sent to Politico and on her Twitter feed, but so far she has refused to do what even former MSNBC host Martin Bashir did, and offer an on-air apology. Mark Levin made fun of that.
After being “roundly criticized” for laughing at audio of Bristol Palin’s account of being assaulted by a man and thrown to the ground, CNN’s Carol Costello issued an apology to the Palin family.
UPDATE: Costello apologizes. When video of Ray Rice punching and then dragging his fiancé around on the floor was released CNN’s Carol Costello justifiably called it “disturbing” and “insane.” But when Costello played the audio of a different woman recounting a similar horrifying experience of being assaulted and dragged around by a man, she told her audience: “Sit back and enjoy.” The difference? The woman in question happened to be the daughter of favorite liberal hate object and former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
In a November issue interview with GQ magazine Academy Award winning actor Matthew McConaughey managed to cave-in on two hottbutton issues (gun rights and the Redskins name change) all at once.
Former late night talk show host and current stand-up comedian Arsenio Hall made quite the astute observation about The Gipper the other day. Even the liberal Hall noticed there was just something wrong about his car navigation system telling him to take a “left on Ronald Reagan Highway.”
Wendy Davis keeps failing. The one-time media darling keeps whiffing in her attacks against her Republican opponent in the Texas gubernatorial race. On Monday she implied Texas Republican Attorney General Gregory Abbot was against interracial marriage - even though Abbot’s wife, Cecilia, is a Latina.
In the crucial weeks leading up to the midterm elections, the broadcast networks were obsessed with scandals, but not any of the Obama administration controversies that might influence how voters behave on Election Day. No, despite revelations in the Benghazi, IRS, Veterans Administration and Secret Service prostitution scandals it was the NFL domestic abuse scandals that captured the attention of the Big Three (ABC, NBC, CBS) networks.
Comedian Louis CK’s Twitter rant against ISIS started well, even if it was full of vulgarities, but it quickly descended into weirdness when he connected the terrorists to George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.
On Friday, the Washington Post’s Dana Milbank implied something truly dastardly and unpatriotic about Republicans - that they wouldn’t mind if the President of the United States was violently removed from office due to inadequate Secret Service protection.
On Tuesday’s CBS This Morning, co-anchor Gayle King was charmed by Democratic Senate candidate Mark Pryor’s selfie with Bill Clinton as she effused: “Everybody likes a selfie.”
However King, nor anyone else at CBS has yet to report on the Arkansas Senator’s response to a basic question about ebola that was so bad it went viral and even caused MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski to shout: “Stop it!” four times before she ridiculed: “A sweet, little, nice, gentle question, and the guy just collapsed!”
Charlie Rose’s interview with Bill Clinton at his own Clinton Global Initiative summit was, not surprisingly, full of easy questions but the PBS host saved his loftiest softball for the end when he called Clinton the “best political animal” of all time.
