Thomas Roberts didn’t stray an inch away from the liberal media narrative about conservative difficulties with Iraq War questions. On the May 20 edition of MSNBC Live, the host interviewed potential 2016 candidate and former New York governor George Pataki on the subject. 

Following Hillary Clinton’s first time engaging with the press in nearly a month, MSNBC predictably cheered her performance. Evidently 28 days is not enough of an opportunity to prepare for questions, because afternoon host Thomas Roberts lauded her brief few minutes with the press: “She was pretty great on the fly answering these questions. She didn't hedge on much of anything. And she buckled to the pressure of the fact that she has hasn't answered questions in a month.”

In the aftermath of third ranking House Republican Steve Scalise’s scandal regarding a meeting with a white nationalist group, Fox News Special Report panelist Charles Krauthammer noted a seemingly obvious double standard. While Scalise is being hit hard – and justifiably so – by the media for his actions, President Obama largely was excused for sitting in on Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s racist, anti-American sermons.

Krauthammer criticized the fact that Scalise is being held accountable “for a single event 12 years ago,” but the President spent over two decades at Rev. Wright’s church and the liberal media gave him a pass. He added that he didn’t “even think it’s comparable.”

If you ask MSNBC's Chris Hayes, it’s the religious right who is depraved when it comes to the issue of gay marriage. The December 23 edition of All In with Chris Hayes featured guest Sam Seder comparing gay marriage opponents to ISIS, while the host suggested that traditional marriage supporters are morally bankrupt.

After Hayes and his guests cheerfully talked up the supposed emerging consensus surrounding the issue, Sam Seder of the Majority Report took things to an alarming level. He argued: “There seems to be a concession on some level from long-time opponents. Almost to a point where you see it leveraged about in places. You know, ISIS, you should see the way they don't allow gay people to get married.”

In case you missed it, censorship of ideas that do not adhere to liberal orthodoxy is happening at the University of Michigan. The PC police have struck once again. A Muslim student, Omar Mahmood, wrote a satirical piece titled "Do the Left Thing" for the conservative Michigan Review mocking social justice fads like trigger warnings and micro-aggressions, but also political correctness in general. The result? A firing and a vandalized apartment.

Even the New York Times has directed criticism at President Obama for being hopelessly out of touch. Following his announcement of American journalist James Foley’s brutal death at the hands of ISIS, the President immediately headed out to the links for a quick round of golf, a move panned in an often bipartisan fashion. Liberal Times columnist Maureen Dowd mocked the President in a piece that played off Abraham Lincoln’s legendary Gettysburg Address.

Headlined “The Golf Address,” Dowd justifiably ripped President Obama for his response to that horrific tragedy: “FORE! Score? And seven trillion rounds ago, our forecaddies brought forth on this continent a new playground, conceived by Robert Trent Jones, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal when it comes to spending as much time on the links as possible — even when it seems totally inappropriate.” [See excerpts below.]

Channeling Jesse Jackson’s comments earlier this week on Newsmax TV, MSNBC’s Al Sharpton argued that no circumstance justified Michael Brown being shot multiple times, using the logic that he was unarmed. This despite reports that Brown had charged and beat Officer Darren Wilson prior to the fatal shooting.

During a predictably soft interview with host Alex Wagner on the August 20 edition of Now, Sharpton insisted that “there was no life extenuating circumstances that anyone can figure out that required six bullets.” The PoliticsNation host decided to play the role of judge and jury, claiming that no one was even questioning his rush to judgment:

Despite new details revealed by the police that provide additional context to the Michael Brown shooting, at least one MSNBC reporter seemed to dismiss the new information as largely irrelevant. On the August 15 edition of NewsNation, guest host Alex Witt invited msnbc.com reporter Trymaine Lee to the program. He has been reporting on the ground from Ferguson, Missouri this week.

Witt mentioned the facts surrounding what the police have dubbed a “strong-arm robbery” of a convenience store that supposedly took place about 30 minutes before the fatal shooting of Michael Brown, as confirmed by still shots of the scene. The shots – while not entirely clear – indicate that Michael Brown may have been a suspect. The NewsNation guest host asked Lee how much this complicated things and whether “this fact [might] be something that instills uncertainty within this community which has become calmer overnight?” Lee replied, unconvinced: [MP3 audio here; video below]

Leave it to the Daily Beast to throw the notion that folks should avoid politicizing a tragedy right out the window. The Web magazine used the occasion of Robin Williams’s death to laud the late comedian as a hero of the LGBT agenda for his role in ‘Mrs. Doubtfire,’ among other films. With the provocatively titled headline, “How Robin Williams’ Mrs. Doubtfire Won the Culture Wars,” senior editor Tim Teeman made the argument that Williams’s role in the 1993 comedy – and films that followed – opened the minds of Americans to alternative lifestyles and living situations.

Teeman argues that the ending of the movie – showing “two separated parents, united by their much loved children” – was a rare sight for a Hollywood film at the time. He suggested that the release date of the film was crucial:
