CNN announced Sunday it’s granting President Obama an hour of air time on Thursday to have a town hall on his gun-control agenda with Anderson Cooper. The 8 pm special is simply titled Guns in America.

The makeup of the questioners will determine just how much of a favor CNN is granting the president, but the usual pattern – to judge from say, Christiane Amanpour’s town hall with Hillary Clinton – is to stack it with friendly liberals. CNN’s own article on this gift makes it clear they’re helping him mount a “final pitch” on the issue:

The Drudge Report notes the front page of Sunday’s Los Angeles Times carries panic that all 20 best-acting Oscar nominees are going to be insufferably white again.

Glenn Whipp began: “As Motion Picture Academy members cast their ballots for Oscar nominations this week, the biggest issue for many voters isn't about who might be nominated but about the diversity of this year's acting class. Their fear: The hashtag #OscarsSoWhite will be trending on social media again.”

In December, major media outlets gushed over Barack and Michelle Obama “opening up like never before about all of their favorite things of 2015" to People magazine. A cynic could say their picks weren’t very shocking – they liked Bruno Mars and Kendrick Lamar, and movies like The Martian and Inside Out. They might have been honest picks....or they could be calculated to say “See? We’re just like you folks.”

People also questioned a pile of presidential candidates, too, but the laughs in her office were all with Hillary’s answers.

As night fell on Christmas Eve, National Public Radio was in its usual holy-day mode, using your tax dollars to mock the traditional Christian creed. This time they promoted an activist movie called The Danish Girl, yet another alleged “true story” about artist Einar Wegener, a married man who wanted to be a woman named Lili. An earlier NPR commercial – sorry, “underwriting announcement” – said he was the first recipient of “gender confirmation surgery.”

Paging Mr. Orwell – it’s NPR on line 1. Focus Features – part of the Comcast “diversity and inclusion” empire of propaganda – is calling this maiming of the male body “gender confirmation surgery.”

On December 22, Kyle Drennen reported  NBC’s Today devoted two full reports to President Obama appearing on Jerry Seinfeld’s web series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Once again, Obama plays the part of comedian instead of chief executive, and the networks come running. On December 31 – the day the Seinfeld show was available online – all three networks aired gushy reports.

The longest on Thursday was on CBS This Morning, with Chip Reid reporting from Hawaii with the rest of the “working” White House press corps. It was almost four minutes.

ABC’s World News Tonight arrived on the political scene eleven minutes into the newscast on Wednesday – but still hyped a “war” Donald Trump declared against the Clintons. David Muir warned of Trump’s “new assault,” and Cecelia Vega warned of his “hurling his harshest words yet,” that Bill Clinton was “one of the great abusers of the world.”

Muir noted “there are many pointing to what Trump has said” about Monica Lewinsky in the past. Vega also made sure to note over tabloid visuals “the twice-divorced billionaire, opening up his own private life to scrutiny, too.” ABC showed a reporter asking Trump “Are your own personal indiscretions fair game?”

For days now, the major media and left-wing blogs have followed an arson at a Houston mosque on Christmas Day. Some were briefs, but some carried statements from the local chapter of the Council on Islamic-American Relations (CAIR) calling for a “hate crime” investigation.

Online, NBC News is reporting that the arsonist was a Muslim who attended services at the mosque. Another phony “hate crime” stunt meant to embarrass the “haters." Some national media outlets connected dots between this crime and Republican rhetoric on the campaign trail. Will they retract that line? But the winner for obnoxious left-wing blogging goes to Wonkette, which posted under the headline: "How Many Mosques Did You Burn For Jesus’s Birthday?"

The New York Times is transparently panicking about Republican-backing billionaire Sheldon Adelson’s secretive purchase of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. In a Monday article by Barry Meier and Sydney Ember, they strongly imply that it’s okay when billionaires buy newspapers, as long as they don’t tilt the political playing field to the right.

Adelson has used his Israeli media holdings as a "powerful weapon" for Bibi Netanyahu, so that's very troubling to the lefties in Times Square.

In 1998, ABC briefly appointed little-known Kevin Newman to succeed Charles Gibson as a co-host of Good Morning America, which lasted about seven months, when Gibson was returned to the show. On Monday’s GMA, Newman starred in a story promoting his new memoir with his gay son Alex, called All Out: A Father and Son Confront the Hard Truths That Made Them Better Men.

ABC reporter Juju Chang noted that the son wrote of “feeling suicidal” despite a “tremendous amount of tolerance” from his parents when he came out as gay. Alex said he had some pieces of evidence that his father “disapproved of the lifestyle,” but then an “evolution” took place, complete with syrupy keyboard music.
